on an appendix of the Auruncis Mountains where they plunge in the sea,
on a line of coast where the nature is really touchy it offers different
and fascinating environments: the plain of S. Agostino with the beach and
it's promontory, the Caletta of S. Vito, the beach of the Arenauta, the
promontory of Tower Scissura, the beach of the Arianna and the promontory
of The Violet Tower and the beach of Serapo with the residential zone that
is opened between the other spurs of Fontania and Monte Orlando (today
it is a Regional Park). Gaeta is an ancient city, a Republic Marinara and
last post of the Borbon monarchy. It was of great importance and place
of vacation in Roman period, it reached maximum shine in the Middle Ages,
as shown by the numerous visible testimonies in the historical center:
the district S, Erasmo with the Cathedral and the attached Diocesan Museum,
the bell tower, the numerous churches and the angioino-aragonese Castle.
Of indisputable charm are the visits to the so-called Montagna Spaccata
on the Monte Orlando, a fissure in the rock that, according to the legend,
it would have opened to the death of Jesus, to the Cave of Turkish
and the Sanctuary of the Trinity.
