Il panorama visto dai monti Aurunci

Il Porticciolo Romano

Tomba di Cicerone

It is extended at the feet of the Auruncis Mountains between the elegant beach of Vindicio and the green promontono of Gianola, to the center of the Gulf of Gaeta. Formia origins  are connected again to the legend of Troia and the to legend of Ulisse on the way of return.  Formia was, already in Roman period, a very appreciated tourist place, as testified by the numerous rests of villas. Between the other emerges: the pools, the rests of the Roman and then Borbonic dock of Caposele, the ruins of the temple of Giano, the theater of Traiano and the rests of the amphitheater. Formia has four ancient fractions: in the hill Castellonorato, Maranola and Trivio; Penitro in the lowland. It boasts an enviable climatic condition that, together with the beaches of Vindicio, Acquatraversa, S. Janni and Gianola, make it a wanted tourist destination.
